is there an “official” version of your logo?

I have the SVG somewhere, I have to look for it (might be on another machine). I also wanted to touch it up a bit but maybe that ship has sailed.

It's heavily based on the original one so the same license would be fine

I'm unhappy to see my efforts in vain. It was not supposed to be pending another revision or an infinite search for an SVG. I'd appreciate if the Cabal team merges this PR as is.

It makes sense.
I am still hoping to get a SVG version, which would useful in a number of ways (usare of the logo on other Haskell sites, stickers, etc.)

This is now open for review, I will draft another PR if the SVG is ever found. Thank you Adrew for pushing this to the finish line and Francesco for the new logo design.
